In celebration of the first warm day and the intimations of spring, here’s a painting from a couple of years ago.
Near the top of the Pinnacles lookout in the Grampians, but looking the other way towards the west. The place was full of early wild flowers, none of which I know the names of. I painted it, exhibited it and sold it within the space of a month. There are a few paintings I have made over the years that I would like to have spent more time with: this is definitely one of them.

I’ve enjoyed some of the articles on your blog and I hope you’ll understand when I say I shy away from explaining what I do, for fear that it may make the process too “front and centre” in my consciousness. My colour choices and mark-making rely, I believe, on *not* thinking about what I’m doing. I did some teaching at a university some years ago, and it took me a couple of years to recover from that process. The critical part of my brain was constantly editing my actions… I felt like I was painting like a pastiche of myself! Sorry, long answer there. Short answer is: it’s unlikely, but not totally out of the question in the future.
Sooooo beautiful. Can’t believe it’s gone. Lars, would you ever consider making a video of your process for others? A series of tutorials, for a fee? I love your painting and your writing.
