Three weeks of trekking and sketching in France this year. Three weeks is not nearly enough, and I reckon I should probably just go live there, except I’m terrified of cheese. All but one of the sketches here are on my trusty iPad Pro which remains considerably more portable than a whole paint box and sketch book. Although the sketchbook doesn’t run out of batteries.
A couple of the later ones have a Matisse Fauve vibe. No accident since I was walking in his footsteps, so to speak, in the last part of the trip. It’s interesting to me how simultaneously his work shapes how I look at the landscape, and the landscape shapes how I look at his work.
Enjoy.
