Grampians Brushes 2024

Early Morning sketch using ProCreate Pocket on iPhone

Just back from a week in Hall’s Gap teaching two workshops.

The first was a two-day affair looking at ways to use colour in an emotive, non-representational way and yet still keep a little control by using limited palettes.

The second was a four-day workshop with a similar theme, but looking more in-depth and seeing how we can use our exploration of colour choices to get away from the constraining effect of working from photographs.

The students did some fantastic work and had a great time, and I managed to grab a few minutes in the early mornings to do a couple of sketches.

Hats off to the team at Grampian Arts that organise Grampians Brushes: it’s a brilliant week.
