I went up to Mildura early in 2025 to give a weekend workshop. I extended the visit to take a few strolls through the Hattah-Kulkyne national park. The huge skies, flat land and dry, sparse bush felt a million miles from my usual stomping grounds of the Goldfields and the Grampians Gariwerd. It presented a whole new environment and a new set of challenges, palettes and, at one point, wayfinding. When everything looks like a path, nothing is a path.
