I got back from a year overseas at the beginning of winter last year. As soon as I could, I was out in the bush with the dog. The first thing I noticed was how dry everything was. We finally got to the creek crossing where doggo would get a swim and a drink and there was just dust and rocks. This was one unhappy hound. We followed the creek bed for a couple of kilometres but there was no water anywhere.

I became a bit obsessed with creek walking after that and, of course, creek sketching too. I want to document the summer creek and then, gum boots on, to do the same in winter, so see how things change.

I’m having an exhibition at ArtPuff in Castlemaine in September and Creek seems to be the working title and theme. There are oil paintings, but for now, please enjoy some of the plein air sketches.
