O’Brien’s Crossing

Water! I moved to Australia in the middle of a drought. There had been below average rainfall for several years so it was quite something to see this river crossing with some water in it. Billabongs and creeks all over the state were dry and, being a noob in this land, I imagined that it was always like this. It was the perfect antidote to green, damp, mossy Cornwall, where I’d been living before.

The drought broke last year and now things are green again. I’ll not make any friends over here by saying I miss the parched landscape, so I won’t.

I do though.
